Highlights as LOYOC co-organizes the Regional workshop on the involvement of women and civil society in the DDR process.

Yesterday, on June 25, 2024, at the Djeuga Hotel during the closing of the regional workshop of
the countries in the Lake Chad Basin on strengthening the engagement of women’s organizations
in the DDR process, the Executive Director of Local Youth Corner Cameroon facilitated the
provision of Atogos, a production by Michel (former inmate turned entrepreneur), to foreign delegates from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and officials from CNDDR, IOM, UN Women, and PBF.

This gesture was highly honorable and appreciated by the various partners present as well as the
participants. The delegations expressed their gratitude to Local Youth Corner Cameroon, citing
Michel as a tangible example of successful reintegration through entrepreneurship.
There were words of encouragement from the partners for good peace consolidation initiatives. A
staff member of CNDDR bought one of Michel’s products for a sum of 100 thousand francs. The
representative of the national coordinator of CNDDR had a lengthy discussion with him with the
aim of potential support.

IPI partners, on the other hand, expressed their desire to visit Michel’s production facilities to
source these quality products before their departure. The presentation session ended with several requests and appreciations.

Hier, le 25 juin 2024, à l’Hôtel Djeuga, lors de la clôture de l’atelier régional des pays du bassin
du lac Tchad sur le renforcement de l’engagement des organisations des femmes dans le
processus DDR, le directeur exécutif de Local Youth Corner Cameroun a facilité la dotation des
“Atogos”, une production de Michel, aux étrangers, notamment les délégations du Nigeria, du
Niger, du Tchad, ainsi que les officiels du CNDDR, de l’IOM, de l’UN Women et du PBF.
Un geste très honorable qui a été apprécié et loué par les différents partenaires présents ainsi que les
participants. Les délégations ont formulé des remerciements à l’endroit de Local Youth Corner
Cameroun qui a montré un exemple palpable d’une réussite de réintégration à travers
l’entrepreneur Michel. Des encouragements de la part des partenaires pour les bonnes initiatives
de consolidation de la paix.
Un membre du CNDDR a acheté un de ces produits pour une somme de 100 mille francs. Le représentant du coordinateur national du CNDDR a eu une longue discussion avec lui dans le but d’un éventuel accompagnement. Les partenaires IPI, quant à eux, souhaitent se rendre dans les locaux de production de Michel pour s’approvisionner de ces bons produits avant leur retour. Une séance de présentation qui s’est clôturée avec plusieurs demandes et appréciations.
