The three days session for training of trainers that united some 26 people from youth-led organizations and network In the Northwest and South West Regions, empowered trainers with skills to engage improbable dialogue and champion peace building processes.
In a vital step towards fostering peace and dialogue in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions, Local Youth Corner (LOYOC) organized an impactful training workshop for leaders of youth-led organizations from March 13th to 15th, 2023. This intensive three-day program equipped young leaders in attendance with the skills and knowledge to design, monitor, and evaluate crisis situations within their communities.
The workshop, facilitated by the esteemed Cameroonian development corporation specialist Mr Blaise Bebey Abong, focused on empowering these young leaders to become active participants in the peacebuilding process. By equipping them with the necessary tools for crisis management, LOYOC is making a significant investment in the future of these regions.
The positive impact of this initiative was evident in the enthusiastic responses from participants. Dr. Lewong Kendra, a young person from the Northwest region, applauded the workshop, highlighting its importance in empowering young people to navigate the complexities of crises within their communities. Similarly, Barrister Enow Big stuff Eban from Manyu, Southwest region, expressed his appreciation for the practical steps provided to facilitate dialogue and foster community development, even in seemingly difficult circumstances.
Edifying the participants of the amplify Project, Atefor Jude, LOYOC’s National Project Coordinator explained that “LOYOC’s commitment to youth empowerment is a beacon of hope for a peaceful future in Cameroon’s Northwest and Southwest regions. By providing young leaders with the skills and knowledge they need to be agents of change, LOYOC is creating a generation of peacebuilders who can bridge divides and build a more sustainable future for their communities”. He added that, the project is missioned to Empower and Equip young leaders with the tools to address crises proactively; Amplify Youth Participation by Encouraging young voices to be heard in peacebuilding dialogues; propel Sustainable Peacebuilding that Invests in the future by creating a generation of peace advocates; and ensure Community Development that Provides practical skills that foster dialogue and community growth.
