The level of awareness, identification and fight against aspects of Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the North Region of Cameroon is expected to witness a tremendous improvement. This follows the creation of a Gender Based Violence Network in the course of three-day training and sensitization of the local population in the North Region. The seminar focused on how to mitigate GBV in the North Region. Twenty five members of the Network include community leaders, women leaders, traditional authorities, men, women, girls and boys.

The project equally got the traditional blessings of the Lamido of Garoua following a courtesy visit of the delegation paid the Lamido. Representatives of LOYOC, Canada in Cameroon and X-Maleya Foundation used the opportunity to explain the importance of having a Gender Based Violence free Garoua as a gate way to the exploitation and profitable use of potentials of girls and women to spur development. They equally beckoned on the traditional authority to use his position in the community to support the project.
