Our Executive Director’s trip to the Far North region was a truly eye-opening experience. As part of the United Nations PBF PRONEC project, he had the honor of meeting with the Lamido of Mokolo to discuss the pressing need for inter-generational dialogue and the crucial role of traditional and religious authorities in community building and development. It was heartening to see Lamido’s dedication and commitment to promoting young people’s efforts in advancing development and peace within their communities.
That was not all. They equally had fruitful discussions on involving youth in community decision-making processes and empowering them to play an active role in community development. We believe that the youth are the future, and their inclusion is crucial to building a better tomorrow.

Our E.D. emphasized the importance of collaboration between traditional and religious authorities, as well as youth, in addressing social challenges and fostering sustainable development in the region. It was a powerful reminder that when different generations and groups come together, positive change can be achieved. By bridging the gap between generations, we can tap into the wisdom and experience of older community members while harnessing the energy and fresh perspectives of youth. This youth-led collaborative approach ensures that decisions are inclusive and reflective of the diverse needs and aspirations of the entire community. Together, we can create a stronger, more united society where everyone has a voice and an opportunity to contribute to positive change.
During this meeting, our Executive Director also had the opportunity to hear more about the specific social challenges faced by the Far North region, such as high levels of poverty and limited access to education and healthcare. Lamido emphasized the importance of addressing these issues through inclusive and sustainable development initiatives that prioritize the needs and aspirations of young people.
This meeting was a highlight of his trip to the Far North. This experience further reinforced our organization’s commitment to working closely with local leaders and communities to create lasting change in the region. It equally served as a reminder of the immense potential and resilience of young people, and we look forward to doubling our efforts in empowering young people to promote a more sustainable and inclusive development process.
We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to continuing our work towards a more inclusive and prosperous society.
