Local Youth Corner Cameroon (LOYOC) officially opens the 5th Edition of the Na We We Sports Jamboree today, 3rd July 2026, at GS Upper Costain Field in Tiko, Fako Division, South West Region. The opening ceremony marks the beginning of a nearly two-month programme of sports, community dialogue, health sensitisation, mentorship, and humanitarian support running through to 30th August 2026.

Held under the distinguished patronage of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education (MINJEC) and hosted by the Tiko City Council, the 5th Edition brings together internally displaced persons, refugees, and host community members under the theme: Stronger Together in Times of Crisis Through Sports.

About the Na We We Sports Jamboree

Since its inception in 2022, the Na We We Sports Jamboree has established itself as Cameroon’s premier sports-for-development and peacebuilding initiative. Over its first four editions held in Douala, Yaounde, Bafoussam, and Bertoua, the Jamboree has reached more than 100,000 direct participants and millions of people through media and digital platforms. It has consistently delivered free medical consultations, civic education, psychosocial support, humanitarian assistance, educational materials, and community dialogue alongside its sports programming.

The name Na We We, meaning “We Are One,” reflects the foundational conviction that sports can build the social cohesion that conflict erodes.

The 5th Edition in Tiko

Tiko was selected as host city for the 5th Edition based on its preparedness, the strength of youth mobilisation in the area, and the commitment of local elected officials. As the gateway into the South West Region, Tiko represents both the challenge and the resilience of a community that has lived through crisis and continues to choose unity.

The 5th Edition will feature four competitive categories: Football for male and female categories, Female Handball, and a Mixed Talent Show. Beyond the pitch, participants will engage in pedagogic sports matches, mentorship sessions, masterclasses and trainings, free health screenings and sensitisation, education support and donations, the Village of Opportunities exhibition of goods and services, distribution of food and basic amenities, and the Camping, Community Service, and Dialogue Sessions through the REAMORCE framework.

Ambassadors and Partners

The 5th Edition is supported by a distinguished cohort of Jamboree Ambassadors drawn from Cameroonian sports and entertainment, including former Indomitable Lions players and some of the country’s most celebrated musical artists. Their involvement underscores the broad cultural resonance of the Na We We mission.

The Jamboree is implemented in partnership with United Nations agencies, government institutions, international and national NGOs, development partners, the private sector, and civil society organisations committed to peacebuilding, youth empowerment, and social cohesion in Cameroon.

Quote from the Organising Committee

“Na We We has always believed that young people are not the problem. They are the solution. Every edition of this Jamboree is proof that when you give displaced youth and host communities a shared space, a shared pitch, and a shared purpose, something extraordinary happens. Tiko is ready for that. And we are ready for Tiko.” Achaleke Christian Leke, Executive Director, Local Youth Corner Cameroon.
